Darkwatch – Rifle Leather Strap Process
•June 17, 2009 • Leave a CommentBeen getting requests on how I did the straps for the gun.
1. Did a low poly version.
2. Ran connect to add some edge loops.
3. Extruded every other row of faces.
4. Ran connect again to get edge loops in place for running turbosmooth.
5. Pushed/pulled geometry.
6. Played around in the modifier stack and found tesselate gave me a good base to work with.
7. Took it into Zbrush and moved, painted folds, smoothed, etc..
8. Ran Decimation Master
9. Imported back into Max
A pic showing just a few steps.

Flickr – Atelier Tee’s Photostream
•June 3, 2009 • Leave a CommentFlickr is always a great resource to tap into. One particular photostream I stumbled on is http://www.flickr.com/photos/atelier_tee/ which has fantastic high rez shots that could be used for reference, ideas, textures as well as alpha creation in photoshop that could be used in Zbrush to get nice details on trims and what not.

Zbrush – Mask By Alpha
•May 20, 2009 • Leave a CommentDid some quick sketches using Stefan Morrell’s method of using mask by alpha in Zbrush to get a good base start on creating high polygon work. Baked out an AO and Normal Map in xNormal, did some shots in Max and then played a bit in Marmoset.
Texture Sites
•May 19, 2009 • Leave a CommentI’ve been using CG Textures (http://www.cgtextures.com/) for the longest time but I just read about Grunge Textures (http://www.grungetextures.com/). Lots of good source with a great layout. Could end up being a good alternative to CG Textures.
